Forest School Trip To Rosemoor - January 2017

We had an amazing day as a whole class visiting Rosemoor in Torrington. We went especially to 'make a home for a robin' and we learnt so much about them. We learnt what they eat, where they nest and even how they make their nests.

We had a fantastic time looking for the places robins could find their food and water and made nests in the brash area of Rosemoor.

Enjoy looking at the photos of our exciting day.

Forest School

This will take place on Thursday afternoons with Mrs Wilson and Mrs Mayhew.

In our first session we made fat-balls for the birds. We made them using lard and birdseed, mixing it all together to make a ball.

The following week we put the fat-balls out on our four bird tables. The birds really enjoyed them.

We are all excited about the New Year and this term our topic is going to be 'Imaginary World'.

We will be looking at the real world using geography and making up our own imaginary world.

In Class 1 we have made our role-play area in to an 'imaginary world'. There is a fire made of sticks, pebbles and twigs, magnifying glasses, pinecones and lots of different types of shells. We even have a dragon's nest which has two eggs in it!

Faith Week - 31st October - 4th November

We had a really fantastic week learning all about the Hindu celebration of Diwali, festival of lights.

We discussed the story of 'Rama and Sita', writing our own piece of work re-telling the story. We created some rangoli patterns using coloured paper and pencils. We even decorated our hands in the traditional mehndi patterns, but instead of using henna we used felt tip. We made diva lamp pots out of plasticine too! Mrs Slocombe brought in her sari and we got to try it on, talking about the material and what was the way to wear it.

To finish off an amazing week we tasted traditional Indian food, rating it 1 - 5. We loved the different flavours and textures.

Here are some pictures of our week.
