Welcome to our website!

Monkleigh Primary School is located between the towns of Bideford & Great Torrington in the small village of Monkleigh. The original school dates back to 1875, but has had various extensions since that time. We have large grounds with wonderful views over the rolling Devon countryside. On average, we have between 70 and 80 children who are taught in 3 mixed age classes.

The school has marvellous outdoor facilities with a large playground, playing field, and many outdoor activities available for the children, including a sand pit, outdoor stage, log ship, log train, covered shelters and a new sensory garden.

The school is also very well equipped to teach ICT, with 28 laptops available for the children to use.

We aim to be a welcoming and friendly school where children, staff, parents & governors work together to provide a happy & stimulating working environment.

Family Fun Run

Monkleigh school held their annual Family Fun Run, in which the children in all 3 classes took part, alongside parents and grandparents.

Lifeguard Visit

Monkleigh School had a visit from 2 local lifeguards, who gave the children a talk on their work, and how to keep safe at the beach and in the water.

Parents and Tots Group

We have recently started up a Parents and Tots/Toddlers group on a Friday afternoon in our covered play area outside Class one. The group meets on a Friday afternoon between 2pm and 3pm, when the tots and toddlers have been having fun playing with sand, water and lots of interesting toys and activities! Please browse to:
