Welcome to our website!
Monkleigh Primary School is located between the towns of Bideford & Great Torrington in the small village of Monkleigh. The original school dates back to 1875, but has had various extensions since that time. We have large grounds with wonderful views over the rolling Devon countryside. On average, we have between 70 and 80 children who are taught in 3 mixed age classes.

We aim to be a welcoming and friendly school where children, staff, parents & governors work together to provide a happy & stimulating working environment.
We hope you find our web site interesting. If you would like to come and visit our school, please do contact us to arrange a time.
Monkleigh School entered 2 netball teams into the 'Great Torrington Learning Community Football and Netball Tournament.' We were very proud of how both teams played, and were delighted that our teams came 1st and 3rd! Please see below a picture of all our players proudly holding the trophy they won. Our winning team went on to the ND PEDPASS final at Park Community School.
Pictured are: Susie Roberts, Tertia Kennedy-Matthews, Kyra Reeves, Mya Bosher, Katie Brooks, Sophie Harding, Ellie Walker, Amy Cornish, Tracy Wilson (coach), Alanya Kemp, Joe Duffy, Abi Barton, Francesca Thomas, Emily Hellens and Matt Hughes.
Well done to both of our teams!

The 'Friends of Monkleigh School' recently provided funds for a new playboat to be built for the children. It is a great addition to the playgorund, and is being enjoyed by children of all ages! The children designed and made flags to go on the boat, and we held a competition to name it. It has been named "The Mystical Monkleigh." Staff, parents and pupils helped to clear the school entrance and playground after the recent snow. We all worked together to ensure a safe re-opening of our school!
