 Our opening times are: Mon-Fri 9.15-3.15

We also offer wrap around childcare at Breakfast and Tea Club between 8am - 5.30pm (Mon-Thurs) (Fri until 4.30)

  There are three sessions per day:  Morning 9.15-12.15, Lunch club 12.15-1.15, Afternoon 1.15-3.15       

Children are taken from 2 and a half years until 4 years old. 

Our Pre School is situated in the the school grounds in its own building. We have access to all the school facilities, including the large field, playground, wooden train and boat. We have a forest school session most Friday mornings, which is very exciting! We are a small Pre-School and can take a limited number of children at any one time.

We provide a range of activities, linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Staff - We have three members of highly qualified and experienced staff.

Jodie Chugg is the Pre-School Leader. She is level 3 Early Years trained and currently undertaking a degree in Early Childhood Studies with Petroc. Also a level 3 trained safe guarding officer and holds a level 3 Peadiatric first aid qualification.

Martha Kingdon is the Pre-School Deputy Leader. She is level 3 Early Years trained and holds a level 3 Peadiatric first aid qualification and has 3 of her own children.

Nikki Troke is a pre-school assistant. She is Level 3 Early Years trained and has a child of her own.

All staff hold a level 2 safeguarding certificate.

The children have really enjoyed bringing in and sharing their favourite stories with their friends.  To link in with this we have been doing lots of lovely creative arts and crafts, role play, shows, cooking and bear hunts!

We have really enjoyed making the most of the changes winter brings, but we now look forward to welcoming spring, where we can get planting in our sensory garden and growing our own delicious fruit and vegetables!

We have been raising money this week for Children in Need by doing a sponsored 'WIGGLE WEEK'


We have been very busy engaging in lots of physical activities such as imagination on the move stories, action stories and songs, a range of ring games and physical skills with bikes and balls.        


   We have also of course been baking and decorating some delicious Pudsey bear Cakes!

We LOVE to be 'Hands on' with our learning at Monkleigh Pre-school!


We have really enjoyed learning about Diwali 'The Festival of light'


Shayla brought in some beautful indian clothes for us to look at.

She brought in her own Salwaar, her mothers Sari and another outfit called a Lenga.

The children loved how colourful and sparkly the clothes were.

We really enjoyed this.

We were able to take part in some wonderful Diwali activities

We made our own Diva lamps out of clay, we later painted them and added glitter!

We made some delicious Barfi and created some beautiful Rangoli patterns from coloured rice.

We also were able to have our own Mehndi patterns painted onto our hands, which we loved!

We also created our own too!



We have been very busy creating a range of bonfire and firework crafts.

 Daily Routine

9:00-9.30 Children arrive, post names into box and free play
9.30 Circle time; good morning, introduce day, activities. older and younger children split.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    9.40-11:30 Activities and free play inside and outside/ Snack is also done within this time, as café style in the kitchen
11.30-11:45- Tidy up time.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             11:50- Going to the toilet to wash hands ready for lunch.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                12-12.15 Story/game
12.15 Some children go home/ Lunch time
1.15 Register/story and musical activity
1.30-2.30 Free play inside and outside

From Easter 2019 all 'charged for' sessions will be recorded using ParentMail registers.  This will enable you to see which sessions you are being charged for.  All pre-booked sessions for the half term will be input at the start of that half term.

A polite reminder - all fees are payable in advance 

Persistent late payment or non-payment of fees will result in debt being passed to the Credit Control Team at Devon County Council and will result in your child's place in the setting being refused and offered to someone else.
