Family Groups

At our school, every child belongs to one of our four Family Groups:

🟡 Tarka
🔵 Beam
🟢 Annery
🔴 Rolle

Children are placed into a Family Group as soon as they join the school, and brothers and sisters are always placed in the same group. This helps children feel part of a wider school family from their very first day.

What are Family Groups?

Family Groups bring children of all ages together, from our youngest pupils through to our oldest. Every Friday afternoon, children meet in their Family Groups to take part in a range of activities designed to build relationships, develop life skills and support wellbeing.

Activities may include:

  • Wellbeing and mindfulness activities
  • Sharing and reading books together
  • Team-building challenges
  • Life skills activities
  • Creative projects
  • Discussions and collaborative learning

These sessions provide valuable opportunities for older children to support younger pupils and for all children to learn from one another.

Leadership and Responsibility

Family Groups play an important role in school life. Each group elects its own School Council representatives, giving children a voice in decisions that help shape our school community.

Throughout the year, each Family Group also plans and runs a fundraising event, helping children develop teamwork, leadership and organisational skills while supporting worthwhile causes.

Healthy Competition

Family Groups take part in a variety of friendly competitions throughout the year. Every week, Dojo points are collected and added to each Family Group's total. At the end of the year, the winning Family Group receives a special reward to celebrate their achievements.

One of the highlights of the school year is Sports Day, when children compete alongside members of their Family Group, encouraging teamwork, determination and support across all age groups.

Why We Love Family Groups

Family Groups are a huge success and are loved by our children. They create a strong sense of belonging and provide opportunities for children aged 2 to 11 to build friendships across the school. Older pupils develop leadership skills and act as role models, while younger children gain confidence and feel supported.

Most importantly, Family Groups help to create the caring, inclusive and family atmosphere that makes our school such a special place.

"Family Groups help us to learn, support one another and celebrate success together as one school family." ❤️🏫
